Kael Mouillierat: From Outdoor Rinks to the NHL
Kael Mouillierat grew into hockey through a disciplined, supportive upbringing, developing his skills by studying full games and playing multiple sports. His pro career—from junior hockey to the NHL and seven seasons in Europe—was defined by resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to preparation. After retiring in 2023, he now coaches in Edmonton, passing on the lessons that shaped his longevity and success.

Sean Connauton (host)
Sean Connauton has been working as a skating and hockey skills coach since 2011. Sean founded and has run Nuance Hockey since 2015. He has coached in the US, Finland, Sweden, and across Canada. Sean is passionate about working with students of all ages and abilities. In 2013 and 2014 he was the assistant coach of Team Brick Alberta and co-head coach of Team Jr. Brick Alberta. Sean is a full time Lead Hockey Instructor at Vimy Ridge Academy and has been with the program since 2023.
Born in Edmonton, Sean attended Donnan Academy through Junior High. He went on to play in the AJHL and won a Doyle Cup Championship with the Camrose Kodiaks. Sean then played NCAA Division 1 hockey at Brown University and was also on the varsity golf team. As a junior golfer, Sean played for two Alberta Junior Provincial Teams and qualified for a Canadian National Team.
In the summer of 2009 Sean attended the Edmonton Oilers Rookie Camp. Sean’s younger brother Kevin is also a Donnan alumni and has been a professional hockey player since 2010, Including 10 seasons in the NHL and was a member of Team Canada at the Spengler Cup in 2022. Kevin has engaged Sean as coach throughout his career and the brothers have been fortunate to be teammates, opponents, as well as co-coaches together.
In addition to hockey and golf, Sean enjoys many other sports including snowboarding, skiing, pickleball, and beach volleyball. He also loves spending time with his family, dog, girlfriend, coworkers, and friends.
Matthew Mah (host)
Matt Mah, a PGA of Canada Class A member and Head Teaching Professional at Mill Woods Golf Club, brings a unique and experienced perspective to the Youth Sports Community Podcast. Alongside Derek Baker, Matt coaches with NAX Golf, further emphasizing his commitment to youth development through sport. Matt heads the Operation 36 program, catering to students of all ages, and will soon be hosting the First Tee golf foundation, which provides youth with affordable and inclusive access to golf, along with life-enhancing experiences through the game. He coaches players of all levels, with a particular focus on nurturing the potential of junior golfers. Having competed at the University of Texas at Brownsville Men's Golf Team, and continuing to compete regularly in the PGA of Canada Championship and other events across Alberta and Canada, Matt understands the dedication and mindset required for athletic success. This combination of high-level playing experience and extensive coaching expertise makes him a valuable voice in the discussion of youth sports.
Taylor Medak (host)
Born & raised in Edmonton, Alberta. Taylor spent his youth playing sports and his passions were hockey and football. Playing his minor hockey in Edmonton & Beaumont and football with the Edmonton Chargers and later in high school at W.P Wagner on the south side of Edmonton. Taylor always loved being a part of a team and possessed a desire competition. That competitiveness drove Taylor right into an opportunity to coach with the South Side Athletic Club in Edmonton after his minor hockey career. For over 10 years, Taylor coached for various clubs around the city of Edmonton ranging from the Bantam AA to Major Midget AAA levels where he developed players that have gone on to play in the AJHL, WHL, USport, NCAA, AHL and the NHL.
While coaching minor hockey Taylor attended the U of A and then graduated from the Radio & Television program at NAIT. Even before graduation, Taylor worked at TSN Radio in Edmonton, primarily covering Junior and NCAA Hockey, he was also the Play-By-Play voice of the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (now BCHL) for 8 seasons.
In his spare time Taylor still enjoys getting between the pipes a couple times per week, playing flag football in the summer, runner in the summer, cross country skiing in the winter, and somehow finds time for a couple rounds of golf throughout the year. Taylor’s experience in coaching minor hockey and broadcasting brings a unique perspective to the Youth Sports Community podcast.
Dylan Flasch (producer)
Dylan Flasch is the Producer of the Youth Sports Community Podcast. After 7 years of coaching baseball full-time (3 years at the college level with the Edmonton Collegiate Hawks & Edmonton Riverhawks), Dylan transitioned into marketing and media production, bringing his passion for sports and storytelling into a new field. Dylan grew up in Lloydminster and represented Team Saskatchewan at the Baseball Canada Cup twice, won the Canadian College World Series in 2017, and played in the Western Canadian Baseball League with the Moose Jaw Miller Express & Lethbridge Bulls. He currently serves as the Marketing Coordinator for Academic and Athletic Development and is also an instructor with Vimy Baseball.
